Jonah T. Orumoi is the Managing Director of Tourism finance Corporation, the only Development Financial Institution in the tourism sector in Kenya.
Mr. Orumoi holds a Master of Science degree in Finance and Investment (Merit) from Queen Mary University of London, UK and is FACCA qualified. He is a graduate of BA (Hons) in Accounting & Finance of the East London University, UK.
Until his appointment, Mr. Orumoi was the Head of Finance & ICT at the Kenya Tourism Board where he was charged with directing the finance and ICT teams, business operations, strategic decisions, financial planning, analysis, corporate systems and management of the years in financial management services.
He has previously worked as Finance & Leasing Contracts Manager/ acting Head of Procurement at G4S Kenya, Nairobi and as a Senior Principal Finance Officer, Thurrock Council, UK.
Head of HR and Administration
Mrs. Carolyne Chebet Misoi joined TFC as Head of HR and Administration in January 2011 from K.C.A University where she was the Human Resources Director. As HR and Administration Manager, Mrs. Misoi is responsible for Human Resources, Facilities, and Fleet Management.
Mrs. Misoi has over 20 years of experience in the Human resources field. During this period, she has been involved in establishing the Human Resource Department at K.C.A University and streamlining all HR functions for the over 350 staff of the organization. She was also involved in developing the HR manual at National Oil Corporation where she served as HR and Administration Manager.
Mrs. Misoi is passionate about supporting individuals in the development and self-management of their working and academic lives, both in her professional and private capacity. She is a member of the Marakwet District Education Board and also serves as a Board Member at Chebara Girls Secondary School.
Mrs. Misoi has an MBA from the University of Salford in the UK, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Kenyatta University. She holds a Diploma in PR and Personnel Management and is currently pursuing a Higher Diploma in Psychological Counseling at Maranatha College. She is a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
Head of Procurement
Ms. Patricia N. Gachungi is the Head of Procurement. She previously worked with the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) in the Compliance Department.
She has vast experience in supply chain and logistics, with her speciality being Public Procurement Law and Compliance.
She holds a Master of Science in Procurement and Logistics degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Bachelor of Commerce- Business Administration Option Degree from Strathmore University, a Graduate Diploma in Purchasing and Supply from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply [CIPS-UK].
She is a licensed member of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management [MKISM] and a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
Head of Investments
Dominic Ndewa is the Head of Investments at TFC. Mr. Ndewa joined TFC in December 2010 from the Ministry of Finance (Treasury) where he was a Principal Economist for over 15 years.
As Head of Investments, Mr. Ndewa oversees all investment issues at TFC, including the management of equity investments in all the subsidiaries and associates. He is charged with the responsibility of carrying out Research and Development in respect to all the Corporations projects. He is also charged with the responsibility of managing all the properties, including Utalii House.
Mr. Ndewa has over 17 years of experience in sound management of public sector investments. As principal economist at the Treasury, he worked for as a Counterpart to the Privatization Adviser in Bank Restructuring and Privatization Project, a World Bank funded project, which involved the financial restructuring of National Bank of Kenya in 2008 and transfer of the IDB Capital Limited commercial banking License to Equity Bank Limited.
He was also charged with overseeing the Monitoring and Supervision of Government Investments in all the State Corporations. Mr. Ndewa has immense experience in the public sector affairs, especially in the management of public sector finance. He served as the Joint Secretary to the GoK Project Steering Committee that coordinated the acquisition of the GoK's 40% stake in De La Rue Security and Print Kenya Limited. He was a member of the Steering Committee on the Privatization of the Kenya Railways Corporation and Safaricom Limited. While at the Treasury, he served as an Alternate Director to the Permanent Secretary, Treasury, in various State Corporations Boards.Mr. Ndewa holds a Masters Degree in Economic Policy Management and a Bachelor of Economics Degree, both from the University of Nairobi. He is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya, CPA (K), and a Certified Investments and Securities Analyst (East Africa). He has attended many management courses both locally and internationally.
Head of Procurement
Mr John Saitoti Karia is the Head of Legal Services and Corporation Secretary. John is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Certified Secretary. He is an active Member of the Law Society of Kenya, the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya Branch). He holds a Master’s degree in Law (LLM) from the University of Exeter (UK), a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law and a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from University of Nairobi.
John is a seasoned legal and governance professional with wide and varied experience gained in the financial services industry and has previously worked for Kenindia Assurance Co. Ltd and the Laptrust/CPF Group where he was the Legal Services Manager.
Head of Finance
Mr Norman Njoroge Mwangi is the Head of Finance. He holds an MBA, Finance option and B.Ed. in Mathematics and Business Studies (First Class Hons).
He is a qualified accountant (CPA-K) and a member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). He has 17 years working experience in the public sector with nine years at senior level. He has vast experience in implementation of accounting and financial systems, grants and project management especially World Bank funded projects.
He has formerly worked with the ICT Authority as the Head of Finance/Senior Financial Management Specialist, the National AIDS Control Council as the Head Finance and at JKUAT as an accountant.
Head of Audit
Ms. Emily N. Simiyu is the Head of Audit. She previously worked with the Commission for Revenue Allocation (CRA) where she was the Manager, Internal Audit.
She has over 12 years’ working experience in audit. Former employers included the Kenya Investment Authority, Kenya National Audit Office [KENAO] and Standard Chartered Bank.
She holds a MBA in Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce [Finance] degree from University of Nairobi. She is also a Certified Information Systems Auditor. Professionally she holds CPA-K and CISA qualifications and is also a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya [ICPAK] and Information Systems Audit and Control Association [ISACA]
Chief PR & Communications Officer
Mr. Mohamed Ahmed is the Chief PR & Communications Officer. He previously worked at National Bank of Kenya as Corporate Communications Manager, Nation Media Group as News Correspondent, Radio Bar-Kulan as News Writer, and Star FM as multi lingual News Producer.
He has attended various professional management, corporate governance, leadership, communication and capacity building courses. A member of the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK), Mr. Mohamed has over 10 years’ experience in the media industry and is also a regular commentator who writes opinion pieces in the mainstream media.
He holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree from the University of Nairobi and a diploma in Broadcast Journalism from East Africa School of Journalism (EASJ). He is currently pursuing an MBA from the University of Nairobi.
Head of Credit
Norah Buyaki Ratemo was recently appointed Head of Credit.
Up until this appointment, Norah was a senior Lending Officer, a position she held since July 2011. MS Ratemo has over 10 years’ experience in credit management. She previously worked at Eco Bank Kenya as a Credit analyst, and before then, she was engaged as Assistant Manager, Securities and Documentation with Sidian bank. Her transition from private lending in the financial services sector has lent much needed experience to the public lending in the tourism sector. Ms. Ratemo holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration Finance option from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and a Bachelor of commerce (Bcom) Accounting option. She is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya, CPA (K) and a member of the institute of certified public accountants (ICPAK) and Association of Women Accountants in Kenya.
