The department is charged in liaising with the Government and all stakeholders in the tourism industry on tourism sector investment matters. The department is mandated to investigate new investment opportunities, diversification and development of tourism investment products. The mandate of the department includes providing new investment opportunities and business advisory services to the tourism Sector as stipulated for in the Kenya Government Blue Print Vision 2030.

 

Role of the Investments Function

  • Providing Investment opportunities available in the tourism sector
  • Providing Business Advisory Services in the Tourism Sector in the form of business plans, pre-feasibilities, research, energy audits, management company, financial structuring, transaction advisory, investor search, mergers and acquisition search among others.
  • Managing Investment Portfolio of the Corporation.

Kenya’s tourism sector is still untapped with a lot of opportunities for investment. The corporation continually seeks strategic partners who can invest in the tourism sector. Currently, the Corporation is establishing strategic partnerships and collaborations with National/ County Governments & other stakeholders to tap into existing potentials for tourism investments. TFC has identified a number of new Investment opportunities/ Projects in the tourism sector.

This is aimed at stimulating growth in the tourism sector across all regions of Kenya. The partnership is in the form of equity investments, joint ventures and provision of business advisory services.

 

Mature Equity Investments

The Corporation currently has shareholding in mature equity investments that includes; Kenya Safari Lodges and Hotels, Sunset Hotel - Kisumu, Golf Hotel - Kakamega, Kabarnet Hotel, Mt. Elgon Lodge, Mountain Lodge, Hilton Hotel, Inter-Continental Hotel, Buffalo Springs Lodge, Maralal Safari Lodge and The Ark. The Corporation will be divesting its stake from these hotels to generate funds for reinvestment.
